Vape juice is what goes in an e-cigarette to produce vapour. It’s the liquid that fills the reservoir inside and is soaked up by the wick and heated by the coil, resulting in vapour being produced.
What is Vape Juice made out of?
What we call “vape juice” is sometimes known as e-liquid, e-juice, vape liquid, vaping juice, vaping liquid, and e-cigarette juice. It goes by many names but it’s usually made from the same main ingredients, which are:
- Vegetable glycerin (VG)
- Propylene glycol (PG)
- Flavourings
- Water
- Nicotine
The Role of VG and PG in E-Liquids
The exact flavourings used differ from one juice to the next. VG and PG are both generally present but the ratio of one to the other differs depending on the desired result.
Adding more VG to an e-liquid makes the throat hit smoother and results in thicker vapour. High VG juices (usually 70% or higher VG to PG ratio) are generally considered to be ideal for sub-ohm vaping, which entails the use of a vaping device with a coil resistance that’s lower than 1.0 ohm.
Smokers who switch to vaping often prefer more PG because higher levels of the ingredient result in a stronger throat hit. This makes vaping feel more like smoking.
Nicotine in Vape Juice
When it comes to nicotine, not all vape juices have it. There are plenty of nicotine-free vape juices, and there are even more that contain nicotine. Most vape companies that manufacture juice make their juices in a range of nicotine strengths.
If too much nicotine is used, the vapour becomes uncomfortable to inhale as it’s too harsh to stomach comfortably. To get around this dilemma and offer higher strengths, many e-liquid manufacturers have adopted the use of nicotine salts, a type of nicotine that is engineered to be smoother, allowing higher concentrations to be used without that excessively harsh feeling that otherwise prevents really strong e-liquids from being practical.
How Vape Juice is Offered as a Product
Today’s market is awash with vape liquids from companies that manufacture their wares in facilities all over the world. Asia, Europe and North America are just some of the regions where vape juice is manufactured. The regulations governing product safety vary depending on where it’s made, which has led a lot of vapers to rightfully understand that e-juices made in the UK are held to a high standard due to the TPD regulations that govern their manufacturing process.
How E-Juices are Sold and Purchased
Vape juice is sold in bottles, vape pods and cartomizers. There are countless flavours and many different strengths. Thanks to the competitive nature of the market, vapers benefit greatly from the constant battle between vape companies to deliver enticing products to vapers. The end result is more flavours than we would ever bother trying to count.
Purchasing vape juice is usually easy but it depends on where you are when you’re trying to buy it. If you’re in the United Kingdom or the United States, you can buy it at a local vape shop or even order it online if you are of legal vaping age. Some countries, however, make it much more difficult to purchase. Depending on where you are when you want to buy some, you might even need to have a prescription to buy nicotine vape juice.
